Writing Prompt #2

Where do you feel most at peace? Why? What makes it special?

I think I feel most at peace when I am at Canter's Caves. Maybe it's lame that my favorite place is a summer camp, but I can't help but love the place. No technology, no drama, just being completely surrounded by nature and friends that are just like you. It feels incredibly unreal to me. We sing, we dance, we tell stories, and we feel as though we can finally be ourselves.

My first time there, I was ten and I thought I would hate it. But on my way home, I didn't shut up for even five minutes about all the things I did and the people I met. The experience was literally life changing for me, and I like to think it's part of the reason I am the person I am today.

Canter's just has this way of removing all of the weight from my shoulders, all the anxiety from my brain. I honestly think it's the way we're meant to live. No phones and no distractions from life, like how it should be. I grow closer with people I just met in three days than those I had known my whole life. And we stay close too. Even a whole year later, it feels like we pick back up where we left off. I have met some of the most amazing people there, and I can't wait to see them again soon. I'm never afraid to try new things or test myself, and I think it really pushes me to be the best version of me.
